All about me =)

Today in class we did our about me presentations.  I chose to use Pinterest Pins to illustrate a little bit about my self and what I am interested in. See if you can figure out some things that I like based on my pins!

I presented my project to my Methods for Teaching Social Studies class and was given feedback of three pluses and a wish by my peers.  This is a great way to give feedback because you give positives first and one suggestion for improvement after.  It is great to get constructive criticism to become a better teacher.

The Dreaded Assessments

Today I did a lot of reading and contemplating about assessments.  Various types of assessments and ways to create good tests and questions.  This is an area that I have always felt daunted by.  How do you know if you're creating a good objective test?  How do you know what questions to ask?  What are the advantages and disadvantages of multiple choice tests when compared to short answer and essay?  Well I can certainly say that I feel like I finally have a handle on these types of questions and making tests no longer seems as scary.

Each type of tests and its own advantages and disadvantages, so before creating any type of assessment to give your students, you should consider what you want them to show you when they take this tests. The video below talks about some different types of assessments - such as preassessments, formative assessments, and summative assessments.  Check out the video for more information!

My Assessment on Assessment

Today I made my own assessment about different types of assessments!  I used Google forms to make this assessment and I think it came out great!

Check out my assessment here!

My first day on a new adventure...

Today was my first day starting my teaching Social Studies methods class.  We talked a lot technology and the role that is plays in out students lives.  As future teachers, we must remember that our students today are born into a digital era.  Therefore, we must find ways to use that technology to engage them, motivate them, and excite them about content and subject matter.

The "Did You Know 2014" video is really awesome.  It shows how the world is constantly growing and that now, more than ever, technology is playing such a huge role in our lives.
